BSR

Metrics

Best Seller Rank. Amazon's per-category sales rank, updated hourly. Lower BSR means more sales — a BSR of 1 in a category is the top seller in that category. BSR is marketplace-specific (DE BSR ≠ FR BSR).

BSR, or Best Seller Rank, is a dynamic metric updated hourly that reflects the sales performance of products within specific categories on Amazon. Each marketplace, such as DE, FR, and IT, has its own BSR, meaning a product with a BSR of 1 in Germany may not hold the same rank in France. The calculation of BSR is based on recent sales velocity, with more weight given to the most recent sales, making it a crucial indicator for sellers aiming to optimize their inventory and marketing strategies. Tools like Keepa provide historical BSR data, allowing sellers to analyze trends and estimate monthly sales volume based on rank changes. A lower BSR indicates higher sales, but achieving and maintaining a low BSR can be challenging, especially during peak shopping seasons like Black Friday and Christmas, when competition intensifies. Sellers must also consider that BSR can fluctuate significantly based on promotional activities, stock levels, and pricing strategies. For instance, a temporary price drop can boost sales and improve BSR, but if stock runs out, the rank may drop quickly. Therefore, understanding BSR trends and leveraging tools like the Search Term Report can help sellers make informed decisions to enhance their product visibility and sales performance across EU marketplaces.
