Long-Term Storage Fee
Fees
An aged-inventory surcharge applied to FBA units stored more than 271 days. Calculated per cubic foot per month and added on top of the standard monthly storage fee.
The Long-Term Storage Fee (LTSF) applies to FBA units stored in Amazon's warehouses for more than 271 days, impacting sellers across EU marketplaces like DE, FR, IT, ES, UK, PL, and CZ. This fee is calculated at €6.90 per cubic foot per month, which is added to the standard monthly storage fee, creating a significant cost for sellers with aged inventory. Sellers can avoid this fee by actively managing their inventory levels and utilizing tools like the Inventory Performance Index (IPI), which provides insights into inventory health and turnover rates. The LTSF is assessed biannually, specifically in February and August, incentivizing sellers to clear out slow-moving stock before the assessment dates. Failure to address aged inventory can lead to increased costs and reduced profitability. Sellers should monitor their inventory regularly. Additionally, sellers may consider alternative fulfillment methods, such as Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN), to mitigate storage fees, although this may impact Prime eligibility and shipping speed. The trade-off between maintaining stock levels and incurring long-term storage fees requires careful planning and analysis to optimize profitability in the competitive EU marketplace.
