MFN

Fulfillment

Merchant Fulfilled Network. Orders fulfilled by the seller rather than by Amazon FBA. MFN listings are not Prime-eligible by default but avoid FBA fulfillment and storage fees.

MFN, or Merchant Fulfilled Network, allows sellers to fulfill orders directly, bypassing Amazon's FBA system. This method can be advantageous for sellers in the EU, particularly in countries like DE, FR, and IT, as it avoids FBA fulfillment fees, which can range from €1.50 to €5.00 per unit depending on size and weight. However, MFN listings are not Prime-eligible by default, which may limit visibility and sales potential compared to FBA listings. Sellers must manage their own shipping and handling, which requires adherence to Amazon's performance metrics, including a Late Shipment Rate of less than 4% and an Order Defect Rate below 1%. This fulfillment method is particularly useful during peak seasons, such as Q4, when FBA storage fees can increase significantly, sometimes exceeding €36 per cubic meter. Additionally, sellers using MFN must ensure they can meet Amazon's delivery promises, as failure to do so can lead to penalties or account suspension. While MFN can provide flexibility and lower upfront costs, sellers must weigh these benefits against the potential for reduced customer trust and slower shipping times compared to Prime offerings.
